PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS IS NOT GUARANTEED HAPPINESS

Tonight is another night where I sat before my computer screen, yet had no idea what to pray about. There are so many things going on in the world right now, so the possibilities are literally endless.

As I started browsing the news sites that I frequent, I ran across an article that just boggles my mind and makes my blood boil all at the same time. A town in Connecticut has been ordered to pay for union workers' coffee! What?! You have GOT to be kidding me? When will this sense of entitlement end?!

EDUCATION DOES NOT EQUATE WISDOM

We are living in a time where we have the sum of human knowledge at our fingertips. All I have to do is type in a topic to search online and in milliseconds, anything and everything I could ever want to know about that topic is available to me.

I find it ironic, interesting, and so very sad that with this capability we as a nation rank very poorly in all academic subjects.

As I listen to the news media, talking heads, pundits of all forms and fashion, I hear and see a wealth of information- actual facts. Unfortunately, so much of the time the actual facts are drowned out or twisted around to fit someones agenda.

THE TRAIN WRECK THAT IS OUR SOCIETY

Today's society has become a train wreck. There are no other words that can adequately describe the times we are living in. It is morbid, sad, tragic, crippling and deadly, all at the same time.

Why is it that we, as society, have allowed ourselves to become what we are? In reality, it's no wonder how we have become what we have. The real question is why have we allowed ourselves to slip this far into the abyss?

TODAY I WAS REMINDED

I read an article today that reminded me how often I let life and my emotions get in the way of the calling God has on my life.

Michael Reagan, son of President and Nancy Reagan, is encouraging all Christians to pray for President Obama.

I pray for this country every day. I pray for all of our leaders, as well as the citizens of this great nation. Well, it would be more accurate to say I try to pray for all of our leaders every day. I sincerely pray that President Obama, as well as the other leaders of this nation, will open their eyes and see the damage they are doing. I believe in miracles. However, I also know that God does not make us do anything we are not willing to do. It is hard for me to believe that President Obama will have a change of heart, but it is my prayer that he will.

THE POWER OF MUSIC

I mentioned in yesterday's post how important music is in my life. As long as I can remember I have loved all kinds of music. I cannot carry a tune in a tin bucket, but I love to sing! I just make sure no one is around when I do!

It wasn't until about 9 years ago that I realized how powerful music can be.

Though I love all kinds of music, I am not someone who actually hears the lyrics a lot of times. The chorus, yes, of course, most of the time I do know the words. But the actual verses of songs, I am not always aware of.

MARVELOUS LIGHT

If you have read much of my blog you have probably noticed that I make many references to music. I love music of all genres. I have found that no matter my mood, there is music to fit. However, I have found that I have to be very careful not to allow myself to wallow in music, if I am feeling down.

Before I realized the power of music, if I was feeling melancholy, I would put on sad music and just indulge myself in the music and the mood. What I did not realize is how suggestive music can be.

I think that I will start exploring this a bit further in my blogging, because it may help someone else identify with this. It wasn't until my husband pointed it out that I truly began to understand how music can affect your mood and even your actions.

But tonight I want to write about God's marvelous Light.
