GOD PROVIDES FOR HIS PEOPLE

Once again, tonight, I've been having somewhat of a difficult time deciding what I would blog about. Some days, my topic is on my heart throughout the day, other days are like today.

I have committed to praying every single day for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords total and complete recovery. As the days have passed by, it has evolved into praying for many things, spanning many topics.

I love to pray. I love spending time with my Creator and Savior. And yes, while I am in constant prayer in spirit most days, I still like to have this committed time of focus.

I've actually started this blog post/prayer earlier in the evening, and deleted what I had written. It just didn't seem like what God wanted me to pray about publicly.

A LITTLE GOOD NEWS

Since I originally started this blog to pray for and track the progress of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, I am dedicating today's blog post to her husband, Mark Kelly.

If you have followed this story at all, you know that Mr. Kelly is an astronaut with NASA, and has been scheduled to command the last space mission this April.

After his wife was shot last month he was undecided as to whether or not he would make the final trip in April. I have been in continuous prayer for both of them since the beginning if this tragedy. There are so many factors that are involved in making the smallest decisions in a situation like this, much less a major decision. I know it was not an easy situation that he was put in.

A BURDENSOME STONE

As each day passes and more and more prophecy unfolds before our very eyes, there are times my breath is almost taken away.

These are indeed very exciting times, if you know Christ Jesus. For the scoffers and unbelievers, I'm sure the times are quite fearful.

Let me clarify this by saying no, I am not excited about the turmoil in the Middle East. I do not like violence going on anywhere. And yes, there is a slight reservation of apprehension of what all this is going to lead to in our very immediate future.

What I mean by the times being exciting that we are living in is that I never in a million years would have imagined that I would see prophecy unfolding so "perfectly" during my lifetime.

What I am finding difficult to do during these perilous times is how to adjust to the conflicting emotions.

HISTORY COLLIDES WITH THE FUTURE

"For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't, no proof is possible."

Interesting. I saw this quote come across on twitter today, and it resounded with me. I retweeted it, not knowing who said it originally.

Later, I started thinking about what I would blog about today. I remembered this quote, and wanted to see who said it.

I was quite surprised when I found it it was actually Stuart Chase, a Neo-Socialist. I just skimmed the information about Mr. Chase, but it did not take two seconds for me to know without a doubt there is very little, if anything at all, that Mr. Chase and I would have in common.

THE LOVE OF MONEY

How often have you heard it said, "Money is the root of all evil"? Probably more times than you can recall.

Do you know that this is a misquoted Bible Scripture?

'For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." 1 Timothy 6:10

Money, in and of itself, is not evil. It is the love of money that is the root of all evil.

I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've shaken my head in disgusted amazement at how far people will go for fifteen minutes of fame.

TOUGH CHOICES

One of the news headlines today is that Mark Kelly, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' husband, has a tough choice to make concerning the Shuttle Mission he is scheduled to lead in April. I cannot imagine the position this man is in right now.

In any other circumstance, I'm sure it would be a no brainer for him. His wife has been wounded and has major rehabilitation she is undergoing. Under any other circumstance, I'm sure he would simply say, "There will be next time."

Unfortunately, due to the fact that the president is ending our space program, this is very likely to be the last shuttle mission. This is a historic event for the country, as well as for Mark Kelly's career.

I am angry that Mr. Kelly is put in this difficult situation. Yes, of course I am angry that his wife has been shot. This should have never happened! It is a senseless tragedy, perpetrated by a very evil man that I pray receives justice.

AT THE END OF OUR ROPE

This April is the 10-year anniversary of the most traumatic time in my life. April 28, 2001, my first husband committed suicide.

The afternoon of his funeral, one of my uncles, who has since passed away, told me something that I will never forget. He said, "When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot in that rope and just hold on tight! Don't let go!"

Never could I have imagined how many times I would cling to that imagery! I literally pictured that rope in my mind! I had tied that knot in the end, and all I could do was hold on tight.
